I’m not sure where you are going with this question, but I’ll answer from my first instinct 🙂
As I travel quite a lot (on planes, automobiles,
Trains, ships, you name it) I have a bit of experience in this.
It starts with preparation:
How long is the trip? Where will I be going? What will I have available to me on the transportation vessel?
At the very least, I want my Kindle, charged fully and loaded with a few books I haven’t read and a few “favorites”, no matter the type of journey or length of trip.
Next, I want my phone loaded with at least 10 hours worth of music (I don’t do audio books, but podcasts are good to add in as well), just in case I get stuck somewhere with no radio station/music or even just to tune out someone’s snoring.
Then, I load my iPad with some movies (again, a combination of classics and favorites) in case I have no access to TV.
Once the prep has been completed, I’m now ready for any type of trip, on any type of vessel.
In a short flight, I may choose to read a book, or talk to my seat mate.
On a long flight, especially an international one, I’ll slap in my headphones, out on some Music and take a sleeping pill once I get on board to align myself with the new time zone upon arrival.
If they have one and I get bored, I’ll use the plane’s IFE system. If not, out pops the iPad, or my book.
