I presume I’ve been asked to answer this because of my digital nomad status 🙂
London is one of my favorite cities in the world. If I were given a job there that was able to cover my living expenses and a little bit extra (I don’t ask for much, but it would need to do at least that) I would be there in a second (London business executives take note 😉 .)
But…
I am not you.
You can ask yourself a series of questions to try to rationalize this decision that you will be making, although in the end accept that it still may be based entirely on emotion or intuition. Also, depending on who you are – some of these questions will matter to you, some will not.
What are your business prospects in South Africa? How do they compare to the one you are being presented with in London?
How will this job help your career?
Do you like the company you are working with?
What does your family think of the situation?
How have you been able to handle the long distance relationship so far?
Consider not taking this job – 10 months from now, what is your life like? Really think about it.
Now consider taking the job – 10 months from now, what is your life like? Same thing – try to live it as fully as you can.
Which makes you more fulfilled? Which do you feel is the better life path? Which makes you happier to think about?
Only you can know that.
And what you think of now won’t match up to reality 100% – of course it won’t – but you can course correct along the way to make it as close to your picture as possible.
