Every airline is different, of course, but here is a general list of tips I’d give to any cabin crew:
- As this trip may be your first time flying together, take a moment to introduce yourself before starting your checks with something unique about yourself. If you all know each other already, at the start of your duty day start a “gratitude chain” – compliment the person to your right. This will put you all in a good mood before the realities of the day set in.
- Always keep a micro “emergency bag” with you with a change of underwear, socks, deodorant, etc – even if you don’t have an overnight on your trip. All too often a “quick turn” can turn into a 4 day trip.
- Always keep your passport with you and at least 6 months current, and with at least 2 blank pages.
- Never answer the phone on your day off.
