For 5 years of my professional life, I was technically a member of the “homeless.”
I still find this somewhat amusing, as I actually had a home – two actually, they just weren’t ones that could be recognized by the Federal Government as “primary residences.”
You see, I had made a decision in 2007 to move from a huge, drafty house in Boston to a sailboat in San Diego, CA. I then sailed that boat to Mexico. I later bought an RV for land-based travel, and supplemented the two with hotel stays while traveling for work.
The key, as others have said, was always having reliable internet (primary and secondary sources, at the very least). Maintaining good communication with the corporate office and any clients you serve is paramount.
As to how it feels – I actually filled a book writing about that, so it’s a bit too long for a Quora answer. The short answer is: “challenging”.
