Age should certainly not matter – and that goes in both directions. A 20 year old should not be afraid to hire a 60 year old, and vice versa.
Don’t automatically assume that one can’t work with the other because of age, gender, race, etc. As long as they’ve got the right experience and temperament for the team then you’re all set.
