I actively ask people to point out to me when I am being rude and saying things that could be accidentally misconstrued as heartless or arrogant, because that is so far from my actual intention I would hate for it to stand.
It happens far less than it did when I was younger, but still far too often for my liking, so I definitely am grateful when people point this out to me – otherwise, how can I correct the behavior?
I never want to hurt anyone’s feelings by my being careless, and it’s simply my poor verbal communication and poor social skills that’s causing it to happen.
The people I count as my closest friends routinely call me out on this behavior, and I’m a better person for it.
So, bring it on.
