This question has the false premise that age has anything to do with utility.
I think that’s the key – if you are looking to employ someone who is later in their career, you may not be able to afford them unless they are financially able and willing to take a substantial paycut.
On the other hand, you’ll find that many founders of successful companies are actually 40 or older because they have earned enough money to support themselves and also have the contacts and industry experience to take their product to the market.
