Before I even saw the expanded comment, I was going to say –
If you took up dancing to impress a girl, the. That talent is totally not wasted.
I see that you joined a gym AND learned how to dance.
Congratulations – you have spent 4 years getting yourself into some of the best physical shape of your life and you have learned a useful skill.
For the rest of your life, you will be the guy in the room that can lead a woman gracefully across a dance floor. That is the guy that women would leave their husbands/boyfriends sitting at their table to line up to dance with, if only he wasn’t already booked all night with the pick of the single ladies.
Working out in a gym will keep you in great shape if you keep it up – this will also raise your endorphins and act as a natural antidepressant.
So, if you lost the one girl, there will be others. Join a club on Meetup for people with similar interests. Find a place (a bar, not a club) where people go dancing and just hang out and ask someone you meet there – either as a friend or something more.
It will happen.
But definitely not wasted.
(Spoken as one of those wives who crowds the guys who can dance at weddings.)
