The best piece of advice I ever received about increasing one’s professional network is this:
Your network is only as strong as the people you surround yourself with. If your growth is stagnant, take a look at who is in your current network, and figure out “who” is missing.
Once you’ve identified them, find out where *those* people are, and get into their proximity.
This may entail picking up new hobbies, joining clubs on Meetup, going to seminars, taking classes, maybe even traveling to another town on occasion. In some cases you can do this online, but in general relationship building requires facetime, so you will need to get comfortable with some level of this.
And surprisingly, no matter how small the town, you may find that there are untapped resources there that you have overlooked.
