I’ve never been to Singapore’s Changi airport, although I have heard great things about the terminal.
For it to be a really great airport though, it needs to not only have amazing amenities in the terminal, but also be safe and easy for landing, taxing and takeoff, enable efficient connections, and be integrated properly into the surrounding area without causing sound or other types of pollution.
The clear winner for me therefore is Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. (Only narrowly edging out Dubai International, though).
Amenities at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport include:
- a casino
- a library
- an indoor/outdoor park
- a museum
- plenty of great shopping and dining options
- Numerous airline lounges
- Affordable and luxury airside hotel options
- the Floating Dutchman (a floating bus tour)
- a 6D XD theater.
In addition, it is a mere 5 minute walk from the heart of downtown Amsterdam, so if you have more than a two hour layover (security lines are a breeze here) you can leave the airport and see the lovely city.
From a crew logistics side, filing paperwork there, stocking, cleaning, checkin and all the other little things that go into making sure the flight gets out in time are all handled efficiently.
It is one of the best airports in the world for a reason, for pilots and flight attendants and travelers.
