“Opportunity” is not tied to any particular major – if you mean:
“Which course of study can I take to prepare me for a successful career?”
First you need to figure out what you mean by success. Is it stability? Is it a high income?
Between CS and IT, I’d go for IT if those are your measures of success.
If your driver is more for recognition of your peers / leaving a legacy, then I wouldn’t choose either. I’d go for a degree in business or Marketing and take a course in programming from Udemy or Udacity on the side to learn the latest languages and get your CS outlet that way. It will give you the best chance of building your network to create the opportunities you need to succeed there.
Find out what your overall aim is and then work backwards.
