First, clinical depression and situational sadness/depression is a difficult subject for many people to understand and if you feel you are experiencing one of these I urge you to seek help from a doctor or counselor (as a minor there are help lines you can call.)
Often, when we are presented with resistance about our feelings, what we are really hearing is a projection of the feelings from the other person.
If you mention that you are *sad* to your parents who are divorcing, they may react poorly because they may be personally unwilling to admit it’s a sad thing.
Your feelings are your own.
