Notwithstanding that the two companies have entirely different business models, their brands appeal to different groups.
While digital nomads increasingly utilize AirBNB to find new places from which to work, these are people who are not the same customer Profile of the average WeWork customer.
Someone who joins WeWork (or any Coworking space) is looking to belong to a community. They want an office where there are other people there performing a daily routine. People changing the world in their own way.
AirBNB is for relaxing.
WeWork is for getting stuff done.
Without a major brand overhaul, I don’t see any chance of success.
