Sort of?
I actually do this all the time, with the caveat that “the street” be more clearly defined to like “an Uber” or a “conference” or “hotel lobby”.
I’m a married 39 y/o woman who travels a lot as a speaker, trainer, coach and consultant.
I am at a lot of conferences, in a lot of hotels and airports – I’m out a lot.
I network. Its who I am and what I do.
I strike up conversations with random people all the time. I share cab rides with strangers. I eat at communal tables in restaurants.
In my almost 40 years on this planet I only ever felt truly in danger for my life once, and it was actually a stranger that saved me – so I’m good.
