Absolutely.
Someone once told me “No one on their deathbed ever wished they spent more time at work.”
I am a pragmatist (although my husband would say I’m an idealist), and I realize that not every job is enjoyable all the time. Some jobs are “just a paycheck.”
That said, we spend an average of a third of our lives working.
If you can’t find some element of enjoyment there, then that’s a third of your life you’re, by the very definition, not enjoying life. That sounds pretty miserable to me. And if, on top of that, you end up with a difficult client or particularly annoying project, then you’re pushing yourself even further into the negative.
That sounds like a pretty awful situation to be in.
It’s enough to make anyone want to leave, regardless of the financial consequences.
I personally know of at least 5 people who have found themselves here, and have left their company because of it.
