It entirely depends on the woman.
I have been in two of the toughest industries out there for women (Gaming & SaaS) and I have had, (and still have) by general consensus, a successful career.
I have been able to choose my organizations and my teams, negotiate contracts into my own favor, and work on the projects that I find interesting.
I have also seen women struggle (and burn out) in the same arenas. I have been told there is a voice that gets louder the more successful you become that tells women they are bad, wrong, less “human” if they don’t have tons of kids and go home to raise your family. I thankfully never suffered from that particular malady.
I have been able to dedicate myself 100% to every role I have taken on, which is something that I can attribute to my long-suffering but supportive husband and my excellent friends, pets and family.
