I have dealt with the same thing, from both sides (as the employee being asked to move) and as an employer (asking employees to move.)
Basically, it comes down to:
Check your contract – did it specify an office location? Did you have a specific length of time for occupying that location?
If it is “at will” employment, the employer can terminate you employment at any time for any reason. If a request has been made for you to be in a location that does not go against your contract and you refuse, you may be terminated.
So, try to determine what your employment terms are, and what the employers goals are and then work with them to something mutually agreeable.
