When I became engaged, I went home to visit my parents. One night, I woke up in the middle of the night to a huge commotion in the street – there was a conflagration in the driveway.
In carefully arranged Jell-O boxes, a message had been spelled out and then set aflame.
It said:
“I love you, you whore.”
When the flames died down, there was a beautiful ring – slightly charred, but none the worse for wear.
How romantic.
Needless to say, he didn’t win me away from my fiancé.
