When I was 15, my dad said to me:
“You are the worst type of “me” person – you spend all your effort working for others and never get anything for yourself!”
He most definitely saw it as a negative.
There are leaders, and there are followers. There are visionaries, and implementors.
I’m one of those who is in the middle –
I follow visionaries, and lead people to implement that vision.
At some point, I realized that was where I was happiest. I don’t have the skill or desire to be a visionary, and I’m at the level of “follower/implementor” that works for me.
So I’ll never be as rich or as famous as the visionary dudes – that’s cool, because they need people like me to get to where they are, and I need people like them to give me my next direction.
