For example, I can’t have children.

My husband has always wanted a child of his own, and in times of weakness he has mentioned that he harbors some resentment toward me for my inability to give him that. (How could I judge him for that?)

He also made the choice to marry me anyway.

Wistfully, he’s posited that maybe there’s a child of his somewhere out there from before we were together, but a part of me wonders if he might be happy (or have been happy at any point) going and finding someone else to “carry on his legacy.”

My point is, you won’t know what’s going on in her hear until you talk to her.

It’s going to be difficult, no matter what the conversation ensues. That’s two new people you’re bringing into the world.

You chose to be with your wife, to make your life decisions with her, and you left her out of this one.

She needs to be involved in what comes next.
