My doctors often say unprofessional stuff – it’s why I keep them on.

For example, my gynecologist often goes on rants about how much she wishes women would stop and think before “ruining their lives by having babies”. She’s so exasperated it’s both sad and hilarious.

One of my specialists once told me he used his rich patient “s insurance to subsidize the poor people who couldn’t pay, so I shouldn’t have to worry about being in a startup because he’d be able to see me “no matter what”.

A neurologist once told me she loved seeing me because “my migraine patients are like break time because they’re not terminally ill, so I get to see them year after year.”

Same doctor: “Remember: alcohol may intensify the effects of this medication (big wink).”

Those are just the things that come to mind. I’m sure there are others.

Doctors are human beings. They’re not robots.

Getting a mentor that has experience in presenting to the investors you are speaking to can help you gain insight into what those particular investors may be looking for so you can refine your pitch to their needs and save their time.

Getting a mentor that has experience in presenting to investors in general can help you tweak your presentation skills on the fly and know what should and should be in your email deck, your pitch deck, and what questions you should have answers to. (Hint: you should be able to do math quickly in your head and you should have a general knowledge of market, product fit, and the “how” of your business, tech or not.)

Getting a coach to help you refine your ability to gain rapport, raise your confidence and up your overall speaking ability will be helpful whether you ever pitch or not, so I would thumbs way up on this one.

Having a “Remote Lifestyle”, being a “Digital Nomad” or becoming an “Internet Gypsy” are all different terms for the same thing:

Making your location a high priority in your worklife, and optimizing for that.

Someone who is living a remote lifestyle would find a source of income that enables them to live wherever they want, away from an office setting.

Well, who *I “d* like to hear is probably very different than a lot of others, since I speak at a lot of conferences that have a lot of great women speakers.

Sheryl Sandberg is certainly a cool name, and an awesome person in general, and a great speaker, but it honestly depends on what your aim is in bringing her. To draw people to the conference? Sure. However her speaker fee is probably going to be offset by the ticket sales you “d bring. Best get some REALLY good sponsors.

So again, coming from the perspective of someone who goes to A LOT of conferences, on average one every other week, and hearing a LOT of people talk, I would much prefer a conference filled with people who know what they are talking about, who I can relate to, and give good value for my time.
